Cultural programme announced for International Far Eastern Maritime Show 2018
The
cultural programme for the International Far Eastern Maritime Show 2018, which
is being organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian
Federation, has been published on the official website of IFEMS. Participants
in the event and guests of Vladivostok will be treated to more than ten events,
including theatre premieres, concerts, thematic sightseeing tours, and
exhibitions. IFEMS 2018 was initiated by Primorsky Territory Governor Andrey
Tarasenko. The operator of the event is the Roscongress Foundation.
“The International Far Eastern Maritime Show in Vladivostok will feature an extensive cultural programme that will include a significant number of
exciting and interesting events. Residents of Russia’s Far East are inherently
connected with the sea, so most of the events will be devoted to this theme. It
is my hope that the participants in IFEMS 2018 will not only have an
opportunity to work productively at the business venue, but to also enjoy the
rich culture of the Primorsky Territory”, Adviser to the President of the Russian
Federation Anton Kobyakov said.
On the
first day of IFEMS 2018, the Arseniev State Museum of Primorsky Territory will
host a thematic tour titled ‘On the Path to the Great Ocean’. Participants will
have a chance to view the museum’s exhibits as well as get a sense of the
atmosphere of marine expeditions in the late nineteenth and early twentieth
centuries.
Guests can
expect to see several cultural events on 27 July, the second day of the show.
The Primorsky Regional Drama Theatre of Youth will present the premiere of the
play Scarlet Sails based on Alexander
Grin’s story with the same name. A concert programme will be held on
Sportivnaya Embankment in Vladivostok with the participation of on-stage
performance groups and individual performers, and young artists from the Far
East and China will present an exhibition of various works. Artists will paint
a 5-metre long picture titled Wave of
Inspiration as part of the exhibition. The open-air cinema About the Sea, Creativity, and People
will debut on the same day. The show’s participants will have an opportunity to
view the works of the winners of the 14th International Maritime TV
Documentary Festival Man and the Sea
in the open air.
On July
28, sightseeing tours to the educational three-masted ship Pallada and Far Eastern State Technical Fisheries University will
take place as part of the ‘Dream Sail’ cultural and concert programme. On-stage
performance groups from the Primorsky Territory will hold a concert at the Vladivostok
Sea Passenger Terminal. The third day of IFEMS 2018 will also feature the
theatrical procession of Neptune and his Crew. Guests of the show will be able
to visit interactive sites and a book fair and take part in the Primorsky
Puppet Theatre animation programme.
Several
cultural events are planned all at once for guests and participants of the
International Far Eastern Maritime Show. During IFEMS 2018, Russky Island will
play host to the open air gathering ‘Summer on Russky 2018’ at which Primorsky
artists will present their works to the public. Also, a photo exhibition by the
Primorsky branch of the Russian Union of Art Photographers titled ‘On the
Border of the Land and the Salty Sea’ will be held on 25–29 July on the 80th
anniversary of Primorsky Territory’s establishment.
Over the
course of the show, guests of Vladivostok will be able to visit permanent
exhibitions at the Primorsky State Art Gallery. Exhibition will include the
works of such famous artists as Ivan Aivazovsky, Alexey Bogolyubov, Lev
Lagorio, and others. The gallery will organize a lecture titled ‘Waterscapes in
Russian and Primorsky painting in the nineteenth and early twentieth
centuries’. Research scholars will hold popular scientific lectures: ‘Maritime
motives in the works of Primorye artists’, ‘The ship as an artistic image in
painting’, ‘Aivazovsky – a great seascape artist’.
On 29
July, the cultural programme of the International Far Eastern Maritime Show
will conclude with a concert and a theatrical performance in honour of the Day
of the Russian Navy.
The Far Eastern Maritime Show 2018 will take place
from 26 through 28 July 2018 on the eve of Russia Navy Day and the Main Naval
Parade. The key events will be held on the campus of the FEFU on Russky Island.
